Investment Discipline
Montrusco Bolton Investments Inc. is a Montreal-based investment management
firm that offers services to private and institutional clients, which include
pension funds, foundations, religious communities, insurance companies and
investment funds. It offers a broad range of products including Canadian equity
and fixed income, US equity, International equity, Absolute Return fund of
funds and other alternative and specialty funds.
The firm's investment process for all the asset classes managed is based on a
four step approach. First, a thorough analysis of fundamental factors based
on examination of demographic trends, business cycles and fiscal/monetary
policies enables Montrusco Bolton to set up a proper backdrop for the remainder
of its investment process. It then looks at valuation factors that will
ultimately define the trading opportunities associated with the different asset
classes. A risk budget is then developed in order for the firm to assess the
potential return of each portfolio versus the risk units of each position.
Finally, Montrusco Bolton’s buy and sell discipline is established so that it
can constantly monitor the changes that could occur with respect to its
investment thesis. This process is vital since it provides a thorough approach
throughout the various business cycles and contributes towards adding value to Montrusco Bolton's
clients' portfolios.
The Firm
The origins of the firm go back to 1946. Its head-office is located in Montréal
and has offices in Québec City, Saint-Hyacinthe, Toronto and Calgary. The firm
